FROM THE CAPTAIN
Spring is here!
We have successfully completed phase one of our tree planting project and I want to thank Tim Moffitt for sponsoring the digger machine (amazing what you can do with knowledge and equipment). The holes were dug according to specifications and the soil was loosened up to a depth of 2 metres, we planted 34 trees in total. Mark Hair from Golf Data sponsored 11 trees (Thank you Mark), and some members donated R500 each to make up the balance. Our focus was behind the 11th Tee and the rough between the 13th and 14th fairway, as well as some trees on the 15th.
We need to plant another 70 trees and I urge members to get involved, please challenge your four-ball and other four-balls to pledge R500 each, give your name to Ché and she will arrange for the invoice. Tags will be printed and put sponsored trees, (this will be done on a first come first served basis).
Lente is hier, ons wil volgende maand die skoonvelde “hollowtine” ‘n eerste vir Bellville, ons glo dit sal ons baan nog verder verbeter.

The A Reserve team had a good day at Metropolitan, beating both Erinvale and Rondebosch 2 – 1. The C Reserve team had a tougher day at a rainy Clovelly, losing to both Durbanville and Royal Cape. The final league match of the year will be played in September. Best wishes for the last one!

Harry Solomon & Masters League
The Harry Solomon team have got there season off to a solid start with 2 wins and a draw in their first 3 games. We beat Durbanville 6 – 2 then Steenberg 4 ½ - 3½ and then drew 4 all with Milnerton.
The Masters league team has been welcomed back by the other clubs with more than one opponent saying ‘welcome back Bellville’. Although we lost our first 2 games against Rondbosch and De Zalze, interest is growing and our team will go from strength to strength. Keep up the good work guys.

WP Mid-Amateur
The WP Inter-Provincial team to play at Humewood in October includes 2 Bellville members. Ludwig Schreuder has been selected for the 4th year in a row and Jorrie Jordaan has also made the team.
Considering that there are 3 former members, Francois Le Roux, JP du Plessis and Greg Sheard, the Bellville presence is very strong. Good luck guys!
OPENS
Bellville players impress
The Milnerton Open was played on Sunday 27 August. Louis Claassen shot 146 to finish second. Deniz Palanduz won the Net competition after shooting.
JUNIOR SECTION
Bellville Junior League
The juniors did exceptionally well in only our second season to make it to the final of their league. Although the final result of 4 - 2 to Strand may sound like a comfortable win, 3 of the games went to the 18th and two of those ended in halves. Kemal Palanduz and Paul Choi went through the season unbeaten. Well done to team manager Ludwig Schreuder and him team for a great season.
Thanks to Vic Storkey for sponsoring our team for the final.
WP Junior Teams
Based on their good form throughout the season Kemal Palanduz, Deniz Palanduz and Albert vd Berg have all been selected to represent WP in their age groups.
We are working hard to grow our junior programme and make sure that we create a breeding ground to maintain our league success and with this calibre of player coming through things are looking good.

Boomaanplantings Inisiatief
