FROM THE CAPTAIN
Golf Greetings!
The construction of the cart path around the 15th green and the 16th tee-box is almost complete. We are also extending the path on 12. This is a huge improvement to the course and we would like to thank our generous sponsor Kobus Otto from Columbia DBL for donating the pavers.
Our thanks also go to Francois Wilson and his construction team for a job well done, we are fortunate to have you guys as members.
LADIES SECTION
Update on Sunday Mixed
The Sunday Mixed of 24 July was sponsored by Restaurant Hotel Liquor Distributors. Our sincere thanks for their support. A brisk and chilly wind created a tester of a day but did not deter a brave bunch of players. Old Brown Sherry hasn’t tasted so good for a long time. Thanks also to Fairways for a hearty meal that warmed us up most generously.
The next Sunday Mixed is on 28 August, sponsored by Wikus and Maggie Minnie of Autofin.
A friendly reminder that the day is open to all golfers. Bookings can be made through all the usual booking channels. Join your fellow men and lady golfers for an afternoon of golf and camaraderie followed by a light supper and prize giving. See you there!
League results for July: Both teams had a tough day at the office. The A Reserve team lost to Metropolitan 2 – 1 while the C Reserve team lost to Westlake 2½ - ½. Two more league matches to go for the year. Best wishes for wins in the final straight!

JUNIOR SECTION
Junior League
Our juniors got off to an ideal start in their league when they won their first 2 fixtures at without anyone losing a game and only dropping 1 point when two players halved games. They beat Strand B 6-0 and Clovelly 5-1.
In their next game they beat Westlake 6-0 to ensure that all 6 players remain unbeaten in the league.
The team is Kemal & Deniz Palanduz, Peter & Paul Choi, Gareth Spencer & Albert van Zyl. Keep up the great work!
CLUB NEWS
Matchplay Champions
Kemal Palanduz played very steady golf to beat Werner Theart on the last hole and become one of the youngest match play champions in the club’s history. Kemal’s run to the title was especially impressive when one considers that he defeated another WP golfer in MG Keyser, a premier league stalwart, Nelius Swart and seasoned campaigner, Henk Smith. Well done Kemal!
Nielen Berg is the new B Division champion. Well done to the champions!
Once again a huge thank you to our sponsor Elvin Nel from Dals Motor Group & CMC Autopanel for the sponsorship.
Halfweg Restaurant
Booking of Guests
We are experiencing increased problems with members booking visitors/guests in the Saturday competition field. With the reduced winter tee-times and times being allocated for WP League teams, full members often struggle to get a game on Saturdays.
We would like to remind everyone that Saturdays are an exclusive members day and that visitors can only be booked the Friday prior to the Saturday (if there is still space). Only full members are therefor allowed to book for a Saturday competition two weeks in advance.
Your co-operation in this regard will be highly appreciated.
